History Of Indian Army
Guys as you all know that the Indian Army is one of the best institutions of the country and is the main wing of Indian Defence system. The Main job of Army is to protect the terrestrial borders of the country with the help of the Navy and the Air force. The Indian Army has seen many ups and downs from the year of its establishment. This Army is headed by chief Army Staff who is four star general Two officers have been provided the rank of field marshal, a five-star rank, which is a ceremonial position of great honour.
Being the oldest institution of the country. This Department was created by the East India Company at Kolkata in the year 1776. Its main function was to shift and record orders relating to the Army that were issued by various Departments of the East India Company for the territories under its control. At firs there are 4 department which include Military Department and the militaries were first in different region Bombay, Bengal, Madras later on April 1st 1895 this armies of various presidencies were made single unit and divided in the 4 commands namely Punjab (including the North West Frontier), Bengal, Madras (including Burma) and Bombay (including Sind, Quetta and Aden). Under the name of British Indian Army this institute had fought many wars not imposed British supremacy not in India but outside the world also.
Role Of Indian Army in World War
When both the world war were fought India was under the control of Britishers. So the soldiers were Indian but they represent the East India Company in the war. The total 1.3 million Indian Soldiers served with allies in both the wars and in first world war more than 70,000 get killed or missing in action. In the second world war also the Indian troops fight alongside of the Allies. In 1939, British authorities had no arrangement for development and preparing of Indian powers, at this time the army had around 130,000 men and they mainly focus on central goal was interior security and guard against a conceivable Soviet danger through Afghanistan. As the war progressed the troops were sent to battlefronts as quickly as time permits. The most important issue was absence of equipment. Indian units served in Burma, where in 1944– 45, five Indian divisions were locked in alongside one British and three African divisions. Considerably bigger numbers worked in the Middle East. Approximately 87,000 Indian troopers died in the war. Before the finish of the war it had turned into the biggest volunteer armed force ever, ascending to more than 2.5 million men in August 1945.

Indian Army after Independence
During Independence the India was also suffering from the partition and four of the ten Gurkha regiments were exchanged to the British Army and rest of the British Indian Army was partitioned between the recently made countries of India and Pakistan. The Punjab Boundary Force, which had been made to help police in the Punjab region at the time of partition was disowned and their headquarters were made in Delhi and East Punjab Command was shaped to regulate the region. On 15 January India celebrates Armed force Day, in the memory of Lieutenant General K. M. Cariappa’s assuming control as the primary Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, 1949 on the same date.
Thus it is clear that how old is the Indian Army and this department not only served the country but helped the other nation also at the time of war.
